Anna McLeod Cushman joined Tedesco Legal as an Associate Attorney in September 2025. Ms. Cushman bring immigration law experience from both the private and non-profit sectors. Before joining Tedesco Legal, Ms. Cushman was a Supervising Attorney for Immigration Pathways for Victims (IMMPAV), a statewide project of Legal Aid of North Carolina, located in Charlotte, NC.
At Legal Aid of North Carolina she represented low-income immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Ms. Cushman led a multi-jurisdiction federal litigation strategy to seek justice for over 150 U visa petitioners.
Before joining Legal Aid of North Carolina, Ms. Cushman worked for six years at a small immigration law firm in Greensboro handling a variety of family-based, employment-based and humanitarian immigration law cases. During this time, she developed expertise in serving immigrant victims of crime, families and employers.
Through her many years of experience in immigration law, she has developed expertise in benefits applications before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Labor. In 2019 she moved from Greensboro, NC back to her hometown of Charlotte to join Legal Aid. In 2020, she became a Board Certified Specialist in Immigration Law, which is a designation awarded by the NC State Bar to attorneys who are experts in their speciality.
Ms. Cushman has a robust record of service in the Bar and in her community. She previously served as the co-chair for the Mecklenburg Bar Association’s Immigration Law Section alongside Ms. Tedesco. Additionally, she previously served as the Faith Community Liaison for the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association Carolina’s Chapter, seeking to connect communities of faith to immigrants’ needs. While in Greensboro, Ms. Cushman served as Chair of the Board of Directors for Greensboro Housing Coalition, a non-profit dedicated to safe and affordable housing for all. Currently, Ms. Cushman serves as a deacon and the Chair of the Missions Resource Team at St. John’s Baptist Church.
Ms. Cushman is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish. At Wake Forest she was a Poteat Scholar, recognized for her positive impact on church and society. She earned her juris doctor degree at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh. While at Campbell Law, she and her roommate co-founded the public interest law student organization which still operates today. Ms. Cushman is admitted to practice law in North Carolina and before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina and for the District of Nebraska. She is fluent in Spanish.
Anna and her husband, Blinn, also an attorney, enjoy visiting National Parks, fly fishing, and spending time with their toddler twins and dog, Winston.
